Comments Thread For: DeGale: Dirrell Fight Can 100% Make Me a Superstar!

JAMES DEGALE is ready to become Britain's next boxing superstar.

The London-born super-middleweight takes on Andre Dirrell for the vacant IBF title on May 23 in Boston.

DeGale, 29, is chasing the belt which rival Carl Froch gave up instead of fighting him - but he is also after the 37-year-old Nottingham fighter's crown as this country's boxing king.

Froch may never step into a ring again, while DeGale is primed to be the next super-middleweight star from these shores.

He couldn't even knock out Groves and he thinks Dirrell will make him a star.

Sheesh. Most of us forgot about Dirrell after his mysterious very long absence from any meaningful fight.

DeGale should already be a superstar. Unfortunately a lot of the casual British public are morons who didn't like him because of his "personality".

Bad decision in the Groves fight and then bad promotional choices have stalled his career. He's really drawn another short straw having to fight someone as good as Andre Dirrell for a vacant title but it's time for him to step up.

The bandwagoners will soon hop on

I think he would have given Froch fits and fighting Dirrel should really tell where he's at but beating him doesn't make him a superstar that term is used all to often ....

Froch has been talking about retirement for almost a year now.

He also said that if DeGale wins, he might consider fighting him.
