If Kovalev wanted to fight him, he would have either a - won the purse bid and put it on HBO, or b - make GYM overpay at the purse bid and ask HBO for a release. He chose to run instead.

What a f'ing hypocrite and so are his fans..it was ok for Stevenson to jump networks for more money rather than fight Kovalev when a deal had practically been agreed to but now that the shoe is on the other foot it's not OK? Stevenson jumped networks to chase more money. Kovalev's promoter is turning down more money just so that Haymon and company don't win the purse bid.

Have to side on Kovalev and his team on this one, they basically want it on HBO, and this past weekend proved that HBO is more superior than Showtime because of the less views of Julio Cesar Chavez as opposed to Crawford and Ruslan vs Lucas. Chavez's fight didn't even reach a million. So this concludes that more people have HBO than Showtime and this fight with Kovalev vs Stevenson should be on HBO.

WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson wants Sergey Kovalev, the WBO/IBF/WBA champion, to step up and fight. Last December, Kovalev's promoter Main Events had made a request for their fighter to become the mandatory challenger to Stevenson. The request was approved. He then beat Jean Pascal in a WBC eliminator in March.

The WBC set a purse bid for Stevenson-Kovalev, but then Main Events withdrew from the eliminator. They wanted the fight to be on HBO and Stevenson's team want the purse bid winner to select the network.

Stevenson says Kovalev withdrew from the purse bid process to avoid the fight.

If Duva is serious about making this fight make it 60/40 split favoring Stevenson. I know Kovalev is the bigger draw but that's the only way your going to get Stevenson on HBO again. it's either that or HBO Pays the Purses which it's a toss up if they do that
