What argument does he have? Rematches are supposed to be for close fights or if enough time has gone by where you can say well this fighter has progressed since that time. Problem is Peterson got destroyed easily and enough time hasn't gone by to make anyone think if they fought again the results would be different. He is only 3 fights removed from getting dismantled by Matthysee. And now he doesn't even have a belt anymore so what's the point of them fighting.

The more I think about it I think Peterson has to move up to 147. With Danny moving up Haymon don't have nobody at 140. Golden Boy and Top Rank have the best fighters. You basically have Broner and Peterson each without any world title. If Peterson wants a rematch with Khan or Danny it will be at 147 and I doubt Haymon lets each of those guys face Peterson again for fear of them losing. At 147 Haymon has a bigger stable and more options for Peterson. Too Bad for Peterson because 140 is his natural weight. But Crawford, Matthysee, Herrera, Ruslan, Vargas all fights next to impossible for Haymon fighters.

Putting the politics aside I would much rather see Matthysee fight Broner, Crawford, Vargas, Postol, hell rematch with Danny before I'd want to see a rematch with Peterson. Matthysee has no use for Peterson who he already destroyed and doesn't have a belt.
