  • 2 of the most crucial aspects all boxers should learn IMO!

This is obviously excluding punch technique etc but we are seeing way too much of the below not being applied by boxers.

    - CUTTING THE RING - This should be a MUST for ANY boxer, we saw what happened to guys like Canelo when facing Mayweather, Trout, Lara, also Molina vs Broner and so on.

    - DEFENCE - I'm not saying everyone should be like Sweet Pea but damn boxers should learn how to move their head, bob and weave etc, great example is Ruslan taking a beating from Lucas using his face as his primary shield.

I really do think the art of cutting the ring is probably one of the least aspects of boxing that's worked on but also is one of the most important especially against slick boxers.

Off the top of my head I can only think of 5 fighters that genuinely know how to cut off the ring. It is truly a lost art.

To add on to this quality thread is using angles. So many fighters have no clue how to properly use angles and turn their opponents. This ability ALONE is the reason Loma is better than almost everyone near his weight in addition to all his other skills.

I'm going to have to disagree with your assessment about cutting off the ring. I pretty sure all top level fighters know how to cut off the ring

I think the biggest issue is with fighters who don't know the difference between boxing and running.

It's almost impossible to the cut the ring off on someone who is running, especially if you are at a huge foot speed disadvantage.

Boxers are thought how to cut the ring off on a person who is there to box and stay within punching range while still using their boxing ability to avoid taking damage and dishing it out in return, not someone content with circling the ring well out of punching range.

Also the fact that when a fighter is able to cut the ring off on a runner, the runner tends to clinch right away.

Having a good jab too is BASIC for any fighter who aspires to be a great fighter. This weekend we saw two fighters (provodnikov and jr.) who didn's use the jab at all.

          .
LOL, it's actually the fans who don't know the difference, the fighter's just doing what he does.
