Comments Thread For: Photos: Andrzej Fonfara Batters Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

CARSON, Calif. – Confident and determined, Andrzej “The Polish Prince” Fonfara (27-3, 16 KOs) spoiled the ring return of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-2-1, 32 KOs) in resounding fashion Saturday night, flooring the former middleweight champion one time en route to a one-sided ninth-round TKO in the main event of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING live on SHOWTIME.

Fonfara, of Chicago by way of Radon, Poland, dropped Chavez, of Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, with a wide left hook 50 seconds into the ninth round before a boisterous crowd of 8,636 predominately-Chavez fans at StubHub Center. It was the first time in 52 professional fights that Chavez had hit the canvas from a punch.

That's what happens when you pick on someone your own size.

He quit on the stool, said he thought he was winning, then had the nerve to call for a rematch at 170.

        Completely exposed.

Chavez Jr's fans are ultra quiet today aren't they? Lol. Top rank offices must be having a party today after this result. This is what happens when you finally don't have a 20 to 25 pound advantage over your opponent. Chavez likes fighting hunched which benefits him against guys his height or shorter, doesn't work so well with a taller target. Haymon is going to have some massive rebuilding to do...you quit on your stool son....kinda hard to talk shhh after that.

It is a different story up at 175 with the big boys.

              Fonfara is under-rated.

The problem with Chavez Jr is that he can't be the boss in training camp, roach couldn't control him and Gossen couldn't control the spoiled brat either, you can't just train when ever you want and you can't have your wife and daughter their in training camp either, I'm glad he got some humble pie the only trainer that can handle this spoiled brat is Nacho and Jr puff puff passed on him .

Yep, he should never have been running his own camp.

Truth be known, his father should have been running it.

Jnr started late, and didnt fight amateur, so never developed a rigid work ethic..... so it seems ridiculous to have a man like Chavez Snr available, and yet not use him.
