Since you're a big fan of Matthysee, help me with this. I might be completely mistaken, but I feel that Maidana is less skilled, more confident. At the of every fight, Lucas gets emotional when addressing his friends. It's almost as if he's the quiet guy who we all think is a "machine" but is really a complex guy, emotional, likes to think, and probably not as confident because he thinks too much. I see nothing of that in Chino who genuinely seems to give zero ****s.

I am probably over reading, but every time Lucas gets in trouble in the ring, he seems to doubt, while Chino rarely exhibits any kind of doubt.

I don't know. I am probably overreading this. I just don't understand why Matthysee--who is clearly more skilled and powerfull--has not had the success that he should have as opposed to Maidana.

Doesnt matter what you are outside the ring, before fight or after fight. What matters is what you are IN the ring. And Matthysse is no nice guy or pushover in the ring.

And the bold is the $1,000,000 question my friend.

One of my guesses would be cause Maidana faced more adversity earlier in his career than Matthysse did.

On a side note, didn't Maidiana beat Matthysse 4 times in the amateurs? Google it and prove me wrong because I don't know actually but that's what I've heard.

He is the machine cause he is relentless in the ring. Doesn't matter what you sre like outside the ring, Golovkin and the Klitschko's are gentlemen but in the ring they're killers. Matthysse came back to win vs Molina, he could have quit but he pummelled Molina for 11 rounds. Matthysse will hopefully show who's boss tonight.

The reason why Maidana has been successful is that whether you like it or not, he's had the easier route up. Matthysse has had to fight slick boxers like Judah and Alexander (whom I thought he beat). Every time he built moment, he ran into those type of fighters. Devon won every round vs Maidana and I have no doubt Matthysse would have beat Soto Karass, Lopez, Ortiz, Morales, Petrov and so on. I also think Contursi is a great promoter and has done the better matchmaking.

Actually 3 wins and a draw for Maidana, I dont think anyonems dis*****g that but how does an amateur fight with pillows prove anything? Pro's are a whole different game.

is true what you say about lucas being emotional and chino really cold. marcos barely shows any emotions. but i think chino's succes is due to contursi management. lucas management is really poor.

I think both had it tough, you are right about Contursi but the difference might be that Maidana decided to train in the US with a top trainer. That's not a minor detail, i think that gave him more exposure and opened the door to bigger fights for Chino...

Very true, Robert Garcia has turned him into an animal in recent years
