provo's chin is a question mark, we've seen lucas dropped but he's never been in trouble after getting dropped and has always gotten up to finish the fight strong

lucas has never really been made to go backwards, so it'll be interesting to see which guy imposes his style on the other guy

i think lucas has more tools, he can slip and counter, he can roll punches, he knows how to clinch, he's cagey (watch the peterson fight where he picked up Lamont and threw him against the ropes)

ruslan has the handspeed advantage but they aren't straight punches, they're primarily left and right hooks so those are easier to block or slip

i picked lucas but it's a coin toss, we'll see who the real casual fans are after this fight when they talk **** about the guy who lost, saying he's a bum, was never good, etc. lol
Im afraid people will do this. And they will do the same with Dulorme vs Crawford. And that'd be fked up.

I also don't agree with some of the stuff Cliff but nothing serious. But hey, we're all entitled to our own opinion and cant always agree with each other.

I literally disagree with every word here.

provo isn't that good. Nor a bun but no where near top level. I've always said that and only he can change that but I doubt he's capable. He will still be not top level after Lucas destroys him.

I always enjoy Cliff's breakdowns, but he almost never clearly explains what HE means by intangibles.

It's a catch all for me that includes heart, chin, professionalism, will to win, ability to endure punishment etc.

I think it's real hard to feel confident picking a winner here. Nothing is harder to pick than a fight where two guys with power who like to **** rather than box match up.

How is he nowhere near top-level after he arguably beat an elite fighter in Bradley? Or Mauricio Herrera who in turn beat the 140lb champion Danny Garcia?

That is the top-level. If you don't realise that you should watch the lower levels now and again to get some perspective.

Are both these fights going to be on the same HBO channel? I don't know what they mean by "via split telecast". Can someone clarify this for me? Don't want to miss either fight!

I checked the hbo schedule, and it said both fights, but i missed a Mares fight when they did someing like this.

                      I agree....

Because Matthysse has shown vulnerability to the knockdown in recent bouts I'm leary of this fight. The first 2 defeats in his career, I thought he won them both. (Questionable decisions) Garcia on the other hand, was legitimate.... But Danny is not a big puncher... Lucas was knocked down twice in a needed to rally off the deck in that last fight... I question his chin and his discipline to box and not mash with Ruslan.

Provodnikov can be beat by boxer's who keep their distance. Bradley learned that the hard way and if Ruslan had a better gas tank in that fight, he would have won. I've never seen Ruslan hurt, he just keeps coming. Algeria ran the whole fight to a decision. If GGG were to show Ruslan how to cut off the ring and stop chasing boxer's all night, Provodnikov could become something special..... Until then, Ruslan will have issues with disciplined boxer's.

Lucas Matthysse can be that boxer, but his fighters spirit won't let him back down. Thus fighting Provodnikov's fight.... Like it or not, I see Ruslan winning a mild upset here if his gas tank can hold out and Lucas chooses to exchange rather than box.... We'll see soon enough.

As for Crawford, a UD if not a knockout !!! The man is driven with intelligence and the skills to dominate for years to come.

Chavez Jr. ????? Did he train like he should ? If so than he wins in a war. If he didn't, he will lose in embarrassing fashion.
