Comments Thread For: Tyson Fury Vacates The EBU Heavyweight Crown

Tyson Fury has relinquished the EBU heavyweight title to concentrate on his world title ambitions. Fury, who wants a world title shot before the end of the year, is the WBO's mandatory challenger to beltholder Wladimir Klitschko. The unified champion defends his belts next Saturday night against Bryant Jennings in New York City.

As far as the EBU, mandatory challenger Erkan Teper will now face the highest available challenger. As for who that will be the latest EBU ratings offer some interesting names such as Anthony Joshua, Alexander Povetkin, Artur Szpilka, Alexander Ustinov, Denis Boytsov and David Price. Two other “names”, Derek Chisora and Kubrat Pulev both have losses in their last respective fights and need a win to be considered.

big klit should spark out jennings after some hugging early...then he'll have to prove his merits with other taller skill guys like wilder, who is only getting better, and fury...but i'm having a problem trust fury with all that weight...i hate bad boxing bodies, but the guy is really good when he is focused..and who doesnt like a drunk singer??

What's the sketch with the British title? David Price, Dillian Whyte, Anthony Joshua & Hughie Fury could all be in the equation for the vacant title.

Some good names & interesting matches possible from that list. I don't suppose Povetkin will drop down to European level and I think Joshua is still a couple of fights away from it, but apart from that any of the others against each other would be interesting.

I wasn't impressed with Szpilka when he fought Cunningham, Price has his flaws, Pulev is off a KO loss, Ustinov looks limited, Chisora might be on the downslide & haven't seen much of Boytsov.

I think anything could happen in fights between those guys. Would have to make Pulev the favourite to claim the EU belt if he steps down a level to regroup following Klitschko.

Agreed Mick Higgs - there's also some great fights to be made at British level with some top prospects (H. Fury, Joshua, Whyte) & more experienced, battle hardened fighters (Chisora, Price).
