Making way too much out of this ,Ward deserves a tune-up plan and simple. Ward should be held to higher standard for his next fight, at least someone in the top 5 of his division.

I don't think he 'deserves' a tune up, I think he needs one (or more), and they should be network TV (or undercard) type things at best. The simple truth is he's fought twice since 2011. We're 1/3 of the way through 2015. How relevant is Ward at this point? Do we know where he's at? Does he know where he's at? He should be looking to 'just fight' 3 times in the next 12 months just to get back in the mix.

A thread about Ward vs. Paul Smith is pushing 10 pages. That should speak to his relevance.

1 Gimme to shake off Rust is Deserved because when he was active he cleaned out his Division. Not only that but it is not like anybody is calling Ward out either and it is till nobody at 168 that can beat Ward despite his year away

If somebody wants to fight Andre Ward...CALL HIM OUT! That is not happening, I see fans of fighters talking **** (which means nothing) but none of the fighters
Exactly. None of these scrub fighters even want to square up with Andre ward.

ward didn't want to fight bute when he was #1 or stevenson after stevenson ko'd dawson. kovalev said he would fight him at 175. he has and had plenty of options but he seems reluctant to fight anyone good.

Leonard was out for 3 years when he fought Hagler.
Ali was out for over 3 1/2 years when he fought Quarry.
Vitali was out for 4 years when he fought for the WBC title.
Jim Jeffries was out for 6 years when he fought Jack Johnson.

                None of them needed tuneups.

Ward's been out for 17 months.

                Man the hell up.

Ward is in this sport for easy paydays, he'll never step up, and never fought one Great fighter. Froch and Kessler are B-level. The real challenges are only one weight class north. But we've heard his excuse of not moving up.

My point was that those who feel the need to criticize Ward for not moving up due to a lack of viable talent in his division should equally criticize GGG because they r in the same predicament ! As far as GGG unifying the belts
, it seems like a bogus excuse to stay planted where he is and continue to fight tomato cans because Quillen holds one of those belts in that weight class I believe and damn near everyone in pretty much in consensus that Quillen wont fight him due to fear , so how the fuc can he unify anything ?
GGG and Ward are not in the same position in their weight classes - STOP LYING!!!! Ward has a chance to fight all stars of his division, while GGG - didn't. There is no unfinished business in 168 for Ward, unlike for GGG at 160. Quillen does not hold the belt, Lee does. And the latter may fight GGG, because he does not look like a coward. Also GGG is a mandatory for WBC belt, he worked his way to this position, why should he abandon this? Because you said so? Or maybe you're one of those scared Cotto fans?
