Comments Thread For: Lebedev on Kalenga Win, Eyes Marco Huck Rematch

Last Friday in Moscow, WBA cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev (27-2) retained his title with an unanimous decision victory over his mandatory challenger Youri Kalenga.

Both fighters hit the canvas with Lebedev going down in the fourth and Kalenga in the seventh.

Speaking through his manager Vadim Kornilov, Lebedev said that he was able to shake off the effects of the knockdown and now he wants to turn his attention to a rematch with WBO champion Marco Huck who edged him out with a spilt decision win in 2010. Lebedev said that getting revenge is what interests him most.

It'd be a lucrative match up if Lebedev faces his countryman Drozd for a title unification. That would be awesome to see in Russia. Although, the other titleholders should be thinking to unify, cause it can make the category more attractive.

Why aren't cruiserweights ever televised here in the United States?

The last CW fight i've seen was O'Neil Bell vs Jean Marc Mormeck damn near 10 years ago.

They might fear a Russian vs Congolese match up won't appeal to american viewers.

NBC did show Eddie Chambers vs M'chunu, back when Chambers was supposed to take over that "weak" division...

Lebedev was cheated by Sauerland in the first fight vs Huck. I'm sure Lebedev wins the rematch!

Lebedev beat the shit out of Huck and got robbed.

Huck needs to man up and stop ducking Lebedev.
