They all say that before the fight and then after the fight it would be a different story, for me it matters, if it doesn't then why put a limit on it?
Catchweights has always been in this sport. People need to chill. If we get good fights why complain. Manny, Floyd, Cotto all have done it more than once. People are forgetting how small Cotto is and he won't be at this weight for much longer. This isn't the best fight but a decent one. I'll take the fight because I get Canelo next. So I'm good with that.

Who else is he supposed to fight?? Golovkin has a fight, Canelo has a fight. Who?? You act like this is such a horrible fight. We could have got K9. This is a decent fight because of how small Cotto is. What if Geale beats Cotto? Which is a possibility. Then what? It will just prove he doesnt belong there. When Cotto wins we get Canelo next. Say Cotto Destroys Geale and beats Canelo. We could get Cotto-GGG by next year. This will only show where Cotto is at this weight and to be honest he doesnt belong there. Cotto can beat Geale but it will not be easy.
Challenging for the title at a weight he hasn't fought at is not cashing in. Geale is ppv back home, he wants the title and taking the fight 157 proves how much.
Cotto vs Clottey: 146lbs
Cotto vs Pacquaio: 145lbs
Nuff said...i'm sick and tired of this narrative that Cotto was crippled by a single pound. It's nonsense. He took his loss like a man til people started this nonsense excuse and he ran with it. You could go take a proper shhh right now in the bathroom and come out a pound lighter. Had he fought him at 140 I can understand but 12ounces? C'mon. He took the fight, sure wasn't an issue when they placed that contract in front of him, he didn't have to accept it, he was the champion. If it was that much trouble for him to lose 12 ounces he wouldn't have signed it. Funny thing is weight isn't an issue when you are confident you can kick someone's @ss but when it doesn't happen the weight then becomes the reason why.
A shi.t that weighs a pound ! Now I'm only speaking for myself here but and for the record and am only a mere mortal but I ain't never took a dump weighing a full on pound ! That's bs man unless you weigh over 300 pounds. We're talking about middle weights here dude, just saying.
There you have it the Geale team has no issue with the catch weight. Can everyone else STFU about it now? No because the GGG D*ck Riders club won't have it. Same d*ck wads with the same hate filled comments it's ridiculous. Give it up already, you will get your GGG greatest ever MW crowning soon enough.
I'm a Geale fan, I enjoy watching GGG too. The only reason he has taken the CW is because he wants the title, if he had the option he'd be fighting for the 160 title at 160, Cotto should be vacating if he hasn't the balls to face a true middleweight.
Let me set the record straight, SMH at people using selective memory to support their arguments.
Look up how weight classes are defined. Last time I checked weight classes are defined by the maximum weight a boxer is allowed to weight and that would be 160 lbs for Middleweight, not 157.
A boxer coming in at 157 because they choose to isn't the same as a boxer being forced to come in at 157
and Cotto's 1 pound weight difference vs Clottey/Pacquiao proves this
vs Joshua Clottey Cotto weighted in at 146 but had to be at 145 vs Pacquiao
and what's funny is for Pacquiao's very next fight, against Clottey he had no catchweight .. so what does that tell you?
yes I'm pretty sure Cotto had to
"the Geale team has no issue with the catch weight"
^ well I wouldn't say that, because they were probably only offered the fight at a catchweight, Geale didn't want to miss out on the Cotto fight, and that meant accepting 157. But I'm sure IF they had a choice, Geale would prefer it at 158 or how about just straight up MW, with the 160lb max?
for what it's worth, Golovkin wiped out Geale in 3 rounds with no catchweight ...... just saying.
Great post.
Geale wouldn't have the fight if he hadnt taken 157, hopefully he gives it a go though, if he is financially penalised he stills fights for the lineage and belt, the man is far from broke. In an ideal world Id like to see him ignore the catchweight and take the penalties, he'll make a packet on ppv back home regardless.

He negotiated with someone who holds the upper hand and agreed to the terms in order to get a title shot he would otherwise not get. He is confident he can still beat Cotto even with the CW. Geale will be entering the ring on June 6 not you cry babies so STFU already.
