  • Comments Thread For: Leo Santa Cruz-Zsolt Bedak in Play For May 2nd PPV

Hungarian super bantamweight contender Zsolt Bedak, 24-1 and ranked # 3 by the WBO, will face Leo Santa Cruz (29-0-1 and reigning WBC cbampion at 122) on the undercard to the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao pay-per-view on May 2nd in Las Vegas. It's a non title fight scheduled for ten.

Bedak has gone unbeaten, winning nine fight in a row, since losing by way of a ten round technical knockout to then WBO champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. in May of 2010.

Bedak was all set to fight this weekend in Hungary, but now has withdrawn with stablemate (Felix Promotion) Robert Laki (8-0) stepping in to fight Sergio Romero (8-4-3).

        An actual ranked contender?

Pretty impressive, I honestly thought we'd get another Manuel Roman for this fight.

Who and Why? Not surprising anyway. Had so much respect for Leo before and now I just could care less who he fights.

Lame, . I always wanted Abner Mares to fight Zsolt Bedak in the pros to avenge his robbery loss from the 2004 Olympics, .

It'd be great if Bedak beat Santa Cruz and subsequently landed a Mares fight, .

At least it's someone ranked somewhere. I'll take it. Don't understand why it's non-title and 10 rounds, but whatever.

The highlight of Bedak's career is winning a controversial decision against Abner Mares in the 2004 Olympics. He sucks. Santa Cruz should take him out in 3 rounds or less.
