Comments Thread For: Tony Harrison: Monroe is an Easy Fight For Golovkin

Quietly building up his record off television to reach prospect status, Tony Harrison (20-0, 17 KOs) alerted boxing fans last month with a second round stoppage on ESPN's Friday Night Fights series against veteran Antwone Smith. The Detroit native returns to the network on April 17 when he will face Mexico's Pablo Munguia in a scheduled ten round bout, but Harrison isn't looing to go rounds despite never having been more than eight so far in his career.

"I think fights bring experience, you get the rounds in the gym," explained Harrison.

"When it's fight time I make it as short as possible. I get like 60-70 rounds a week to make sure I'm ready for any fight.

    Harrison Is keeping it real

I couldn't agree more with this young fighter. I love his assessment of not just himself but of GGG as well. I'm watching him because of all the past greats from the Motor City, he reminds me of Tommy the most and being a Detroit-er I have seen them all in the city. Tommy, Bernard Mays, Gerald McClellan, Tyrone Trice, David Braxton, Steve McCory, Milton, Dwight Davison and the list go on and on but I'm thinking he will one day be added to this list of great fighters from Detroit or whom fought out of Detroit.

That kid has a ton of talent, I just hope he grows up a bit and tones down the showboating he does during fights. One day someone will make him pay for it. But he has a bright future, brighter if he wasn't with Haymon.

This is why you fight the fight! Tony Harrison has not been in there with Willie Monroe jr. you can never speak on someone you have not faced - I know the GGG fans love is assessment, but Willie may give GGG a look he has never seen b4 and GGG struggles - who knows, this is why I love boxing - upsets!
