Las Vegas, Nevada - WBC/WBA welterweight and junior middleweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs) says nobody is being forced to purchase his upcoming pay-per-view mega-fight against WBO champion Manny Pacquiao, which takes place on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Rival networks Showtime and HBO are coming together for the pay-per-view broadcast.
The price tag for Mayweather-Pacquiao is the most expensive for any boxing event in the history of pay-per-view - with a price of $89.95 for standard and $99.95 for high definition.
Mayweather was asked if there was any concern over fans spending such a high amount of money and then being disappointed by a potential one-sided fight - as his team is predicting. Mayweather's defensive shell is a hard nut to crack and he doesn't plan to change his script for Pacquiao.
