Floyd's fav punches are his pull counter to the jab and angles vs southpaw are not favourable to execute that punch

And jab to the body - but his athleticism has decreased so he can't execute that punch effectively anymore- look at 2nd maidana fight. He stopped throwing it after the early rounds because maidana started trying to counter with his right hand

Manny in this clip pulls back and finds the opening Rios leaves, but it does not discourage him from using that punch again like a pull counter would. He just leaves himself open which can be fixed by keeping his right hand up, or he could have even outright blocked it with his right hand if he was defensively saavy enough. You'll never see him do a pull left on someone's jab, because there are no southpaws out there like that.

Against opposite stanced fighters you can only really perform a pull jab.
Well Manny isn't Floyd, and Floyd does the Pull-Counter very fluidly... but the end result is the same; taking someone's right jab away.
And Manny is one of the best, from the southpaw stance, at taking away right jabs.
He does another move to counter the right jab; right hook, step to side, left cross.
JMM knows that move very well and warns all of Pac's opponent of it.

Has nothing to do with fluidity and everything to do with stance and the sweet science.

Both of them are some of the most fluid fighters you will ever find. If it was possible to pull counter right on a southpaw you would have already seen Mayweather do it numerous times.

For Manny's purposes whatever he does obviously works, but respect the sweet science. That is not a pull counter. That's accurate punching and bad defense that can easily be fixed by Rios not dropping his right hand after he jabs.

        EDIT

Funny enough Mayweather's pull counter only works because of bad defense. In every clip of someone getting pull countered by him everytime they retract their jab they bring it low instead of straight back to the face. They could render that counter completely useless by just remembering to bring their jab back up high to their face.

Pac would pound the snot out of Marcos. It would be one ugly lopsided affair with Pac making Marcos face look like a catcher's mitt. That being said. I would love to see it after Pac pummels Mayweather!!

I guess we have a misunderstanding... I'm not with the other guy who claimed (?) that move as a pull-counter... because it is not. I thought we were discussing effectiveness.

In this topic, we are discussing Pac vs Maidana.

He's not invincible man. Every move leaves an opening and has a better counter to it waiting around the corner. That was the smart thing to do by Maidana and it forced him to try something else. He must not be as dumb and lumbering as people say because even Canelo the wannabe master boxer didn't discourage him from using that jab to the body.

I think Chino would have a moment with his awkward shots and rabbit punching. Other than that, Manny too fast with his legs and awkward himself. I see Chino getting tore up and stopped off possibly cuts or swollen the hell up.
