Oh I know. No doubt that Kovalev could likely have pushed Duva harder. Some blame falls back on him as well.

I find it odd though, that the WBC wants a pursebid for the fight while both fighters are slated to fight tune-ups. Why didn't they move the bid till august? Do they have an agenda here?

Come on man, you have no leg to stand on. both decisions, no VADA and pulling out of the purse bid, were done with Kovalev and his team's knowledge. If you are not man enough to admit it, that's on you.

Just like that thread-the facts destroy you in the end. If you want some, come get it. Lets see who embarrasses who.

Michel wasn't happy about the WBC making Kovalev mandatory, and has expressed as much in writing and I believe they called the bid early in the knowledge that Haymon would win the bid and HBO/Main Events would pull Kovalev out. Their gamble worked, the Kovalev problem has gone away, the Chilemba one likely won't go away quite so easily.

Stevenson can go on looking average fighting cans, drawing low viewers numbers while being massively overpaid. Whoop de doo.
        Good post.

Fight should of been happened. Adonis can go ahead and continue to fight D+ fighters or step in the ring with a true champion and take his ass whooping like a man.

          F-cking Duva!!!
The entire point of lobbying to allow Kovalev to become the WBC mandatory was so that in the absence of an agreement, you know you have the purse bid to fall back on.

This is insane. This is like Andrade asking for the WBO middleweight title shot and then dropping out when he got it. Makes no sense.

Stevenson's side wanted the purse bid to happen quickly. Still, that's where Duva and Kovalev are supposed to say, "Fine, let's do it." Not drop the **** out of it and severely damage the chance of the fight happening. Why bother positioning Kovalev as the mandatory to begin with if you drop out when it matters?

Right. I reckon that if they really would, they could have paid off the mandos and made the fight in June. We have been robbed of one of the best matchups in boxing. It sucks.

Appreciate the honesty. Is what it is, but after a whole year plus of killing Adonis in the press and in post fight interviews, Kov can't just sit by and let this fight go away.

I think the WBC has made some fan friendly decisions lately (despite not making Floyd defend the 154lb titles). I think Kathy pushed for it and the WBC did this to make solidify the fight to make sure what happened with HBO didn't happen again.

I think HBO told Kathy they wouldn't allow an out in the next contract for the Stevenson fight (assuming they lost the purse bid) so she had to do this to save face. She isn't going to not resign with HBO and lose out on guaranteed money.

Stevenson's side didn't want the fight for June, either, which makes it even worse. They were just fine with Kovalev fighting his mandatory, Stevenson fighting whoever, and then the two meeting later this year.

Seriously, Duva better do everything she can to make this fight. Everything.

Geez weebler I, I mean at what point do you let this kind of conspiracy thinking go and just call it straight. You had no problem killing Adonis, do the same here.
