Comments Thread For: Froch: Joe Calzaghe Knows I Was Going To Beat Him

Current WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch thinks that he would have beaten Joe Calzaghe had the fight he wanted with the Welshman happened.

In a revealing documentary to be screened on ITV4, Froch says that he thinks Calzaghe wouldn't agree to the fight as he knew he would have lost.

The two never went head-to-head despite Froch repeatedly calling for the fight. Calzaghe's last fight came in 2008 prior to retirement.

"That was a fight I wanted," Froch told ITV Sport. "He was WBC champion, everyone knew who he was. It was a massive fight back then - I think it would still be a big fight now. I think Joe Calzaghe knew that I was going to beat him."

Calzaghe would have handled froch... Froch couldn't beat Kessler, let alone guys like ward or calzaghe

It would be a competitive fight it calzaghe would adapt throughout the fight and would win a close decision

Now I really want to see a Ward/Froch rematch. And just to be clear, Joe would have defeated Carl. No question about it.

Joe would've left Carl twitching and convulsing after knocking him out cold. How would've desroyed Carl.

I always wondered why these two never scrapped. This fight would have been the biggest fights next to a prime Hatton verse Khan.

People should remember this wasn't even a realistic big fight at the time!

Calzaghe had already retired before Froch had even fought Pascal, nevermind the whole super six. This was all after Calzaghe was retired.

Froch was only considered a domestic/european level fighter and defending his British title when Calzaghe was basically in his last fights.

This wasn't the Froch we know now as a big name in the division, back then he probably wasn't even on Calzaghe's radar in terms of fights.

He'd have not quite done a Hopkins on him, but half a Hopkins and half a Reid. It would have been a mixture of the two.

Joe would of slapped the crap out of Carl all night. Too white, too slick, too much of a legend killer.

They didn't scrap because no one knew who the *** Carl Froch was. Froch wasn't even that big a name until 2 or 3 years ago.
