Ward needs the right opponent for his return as it's been 17 months since his last fight, so don't be too critical of his choice of opponent. Now if 24 months down the road Ward still is selecting less than top opposition, even I will be critical, but for now Ward needs to get in actual rounds fighting while at the same time not selecting too challenging an opponent. As I've written before, Ali went into the first match with Joe Frazier sooner than he should have in my opinion - not that it would have turned out differently - but we will never know. Andre Ward does not need to repeat Ali's mistake.

love the hate this MAN receives - Paul Smith it is - a lively opponent, someone Ward can get rounds in with and see where he is and what he needs to work on - At least he is not defending his title against him.

Two completely different situations.

Mayweather retired an came back against top tier competition. Ward basically retired and wants to come back against a bum. It's not 2 different situations. I told you Ward is not 25 years old. He's in his 30's. He's got no business hopping in there with bums at this point in his career when he only fights once a yr as it is already. damm the ring rust. Dude wanted to be a diva suing his late promoter begging for someone to take his career to the next level and this is the best they come up with, a guy with 2 straight losses? Its a joke! Wards whole boxing career is turning out to be a joke. He's a good to great fighter no denying that but his career choices and inactivity have really been his Achilles heel..
