Comments Thread For: Pedro Diaz: Roach Will Be Cotto's Key To Beat Canelo

The former of trainer of Miguel Cotto has a new Puerto Rican pupil in Prichard Colon. Diaz feels Team Colon is coming together and that they will have a future Puerto Rican champion on their hands.

“We have a team that’s real force,” Diaz told BoxingScene.com. “So we’ll sit down with the team and we’ll see where his future lies. But Puerto Rico is a proud island and at the moment there’s only one champion but soon it will return to being an island of champions.”

Never will be a Canelo fight for Cotto

The bigger money fight is Cotto vs Floyd for the Middleweight title belt and Boxing immortality for Floyd. Floyd will beat Cotto and retire with the 147 and the 154 and the 160lb belts all simultaneously and boxing legend forever. Cotto will make $100 Million 30 fights worth and Floyd $200 Million. This is all in play as we speak. Geale was picked to lose to Cotto. Floyd will never ever have to fight a legit Middleweight ever and retire as their champion. Bearcat has been informed the fight will be next January or February in Vegas.

I beg to differ, I think you're totally underestimating Canelo. I think he gets by him quite easily and may be able to KO him. Cotto just isn't defensively responsible enough and hard shots will get through. Mayweather was able to put him out on his feet and he's supposedly a "light" puncher. Canelo is younger, stronger and a legitimate Jr middleweight. I love Cotto but let's be real here, his best days were at 140 and 147, and those days are long gone. Let's see how he fairs against Geale.

There won't be a fight. Either Cotto skips out again because he's going on vacation, or he's fighting Austin Trout or Sergio Martinez again or he's the A side or whatever excuse.

If Pac beats Floyd maybe There will be a Canelo vs Pac fight. That'll make even more $ than a Canelo vs Cotto fight. Or Canelo vs Chavez jr.......... except that Chavez will lose to Fonfara.

I have to agree with this. I think Cotto's style plays right into the hands of Canelo. He will come forward, and Canelo being the counter puncher will connect with some huge shots.

We need to remember that Canelo while not nearly as skilled as Mayweather, is a natural counter puncher and is much bigger and stronger.
