  • Comments Thread For: Danny Garcia-Lamont Peterson: Pre-Fight Report Card

When he’s warmed up and gets into a fight, Lamont Peterson is one of the better pressure fighters in boxing. His strength is his inside skill.

In rounds eight, eleven, and twelve, he showed how good he could be. If his scrap with Danny Garcia were a street fight, he won. At the end of the night, he beat up Garcia more than the other way around.

The problem in boxing is that it isn’t scored on a simple who-kicked-who’s-ass harder scale. It’s scored three minutes at a time.

This scribe thought Peterson did enough to win on that basis too, seeing it 7-4-1 in rounds. That was a muddy score. There were a lot of close rounds, rounds where Peterson appeared to be dictating the pace but crossing the line between boxing and running.

he may have stopped Garcia please explain because no way in hell Peterson was going to stop him let alone even hurt him bad enough were the fight was in jeopardy if Peterson would have been aggressive early he would have been ktfo Peterson was scared of danny power early and finally shoed up the last 4 rounds ****** game plan to beat the champ you have to leave it all in the ring

Agreed. People love to throw out the imaginary results.

"If Peterson would have came at Danny in round 1, Danny would have been KOd"

There is a reason why Peterson chose to stay away from Danny for 6 rounds. He understood a faded Danny is a much less dangerous opponent. Where he lost the fight, is when he decided that running with very little offense, was going to dazzle the judges. 7-5 8-4 Garcia

Peterson quite clearly outfought, outboxed & later beater Garcia up. Peterson should have made his dominance in those earlier rounds more definite, but i cannot see how Garcia was given more than 4 rounds?? I watched the fight again and was generous to give DSG 4 rounds. No chance of seeing any rematch as Peterson would dominate even more clearly if they did.

I wonder if he bought some peds that increased his ability to run faster, that guy needs testing, I felt dizzy watching the first half the fight.

In all seriousness though, he lost the fight because running isnt considered defence, he literally scored nothing early bar maybe a solitary round and possibly an even round. 117-112 is a fair reflection IMO. I can't understand where that 114-114 came from.

Peterson should seriously fire his whole team after that. His identity isn't a boxer, and he lost every round that he was on the back foot. In round 8 when Peterson began applying pressure Garcia started to break down before our eyes. For Hunter to tell him he was winning was mind boggling

No matter how you slice it, Peterson won. Period. The early rounds where ppl say he didn't do nothing, guess what neither was Danny. So if you wanna call those rounds even then fine but to just give em to Garcia because he was pressing the action is bullsh-t. Pressing forward but missing everything doesn't score points in my book.

Peterson dictated the pace from rounds 1 through 12. When he boxed Garcia looked bamboozled with his robotic attempts at cutting off the ring. When Peterson pressed and let punches go, Garcia looked like a punching bag.

This decision was just boxing politics ,bottom line. Garcia is more marketable to Al Hymen.

Replace Peterson with Mayweather and have Floyd do the exact same thing vs Garcia, I bet he wins a UD.

Peterson dominated and clowned Garcia, that was a boxing clinic.
