Comments Thread For: Chavez Sr: Would've Rather Had Julio Take Tuneup Bout

Former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has a tough test ahead of him, according to his legendary father Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. Chavez Jr. will make his Showtime debut on Saturday, April 18, at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Chavez, Jr. (48-1-1, 32 KOs) will head up against light heavyweight contender Andrzej Fonfara (26-3, 15 KOs) in a 12-round bout.

Chavez Jr. has been inactive since last January's victory over Bryan Vera. That match took place at the super middleweight limit and Vera is more of a middleweight. Chavez Jr. will also have, for the first time, veteran trainer Joe Goossen in his corner.

Chavez Snr caught the Haymon big hard, how is Fonfara not a tune up? Swerved Golovkin for less money from Haymon but vastly easily competition. Would love to see Fonfara **** him up. I see another controversial decision and more Haymon judges magic.

Junior has two things coming to him in this fight. He's likely going to get beaten and he's more or less certain to get the decision. The cash cow will be protected for protracted milking.

Fonfara is legit and probably Chavez's toughest test in what will be his 50th fight.

              This ain't no tune up.

Fonfara isn't a bad fighter tbh. Like others were saying next to a small andy lee and an aging injured martinez fonfara would be chavez jr's toughest test

I hope Jr loses just for ducking GGG and a career high payday.
