Extrapolate that and you will figure out where I stand on Cotto.
Greatness requires the taking of risks. Catch weights do not make one great.Comment

If a champion needs a CW to give him an edge, then that champion is a coward and not worthy of the title. A champion giving up weight to a challenger at the challenger's request tells the challenger and all the fans that he is not afraid and is totally confident in his ability as a fighter and champion.

Keep in mind the "champion" in question was once a 140lb fighter. Chavez Sr. advised Cotto to fight GGG at 154lbs max. Is Chavez a "coward" for thinking in terms of a middle ground for the smaller Cotto? There are physical limitations here. Cotto can't magically grow to 5'11... He will always be a small 5'7 with limited reach. The real "edge" will belong to Geale come fight night. There is nothing cowardly about an out of prime former 140lb midget, taking on a 6ft MW.Comment

GGG was willing to go up to SMW to fight Chavez Jr. and did not ask for a catch weight.Comment

What needs to happen is for the sanctioning bodies and broadcasters to refuse these ridiculous fight conditions. No money for you! Catch weights will then disappear real quick.Comment
