Comments Thread For: PBC on NBC Ratings News For Barclays Double

The theory behind the big investment in the initial Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) series on NBC in March was to build an audience and allow the event to grow to where such shows are in demand by the networks.

Results from Saturday’s offering – the second PBC on NBC – offer hope for such a trend, though with work still to be done. The April 11 show from Barclays Center in Brooklyn saw its audience grow over the course of the evening, topping out at 3.07 million viewers according to Nielsen Media Research.

The numbers are growing which is a good sign. Can't believe that many people watch NASCAR though, has to be one of the most boring sports to watch on TV as far as I'm concerned.

This show does less than the first show on NBC and they're growing.

NASCAR has stadiums that sit 100,000 plus people with ease. They have a large number of hardcore fans so to me, being from the south, those numbers don't surprise me at all. I've gone to one event at the TXMS and the way they party throughout the weekend is intense. Free parking, byob and cheap food has brought in a ton of new fans to their stadiums and to their couches to watch the events on tv.

As far as those numbers go for PBC, good for them. 3 mil compared to maybe 750-900k that they would've gotten on Sho is a big win for them. This second go round was far better than their first, imo

Just to be clear, the average viewers of the second half ended up being 3.07M. Peak was still probably higher. I haven't seen that reported yet.

EDIT: actually, not the second half. Last 30 minutes. So peak probably isn't that far half then.

Im guessing the only part you read was this:

and the only word you noticed was the bolded one.

These are the final numbers...Nielsen tracks broadcast OTA channels in real time.

NASCAR is the 4th most popular spectator sport in America after the NFL, MLB, and NCAA football.
