How many fighters are better inside than Peterson?

I'm not nearly enough analytic enough to actually make a list, but there can't be many who are as good or better than Lamont. He gets the better of everyone up close. Good leverage, good defense, good punch selection, strong enough to muscle opponents around, he does what he did to Garcia to all his opponents.

Who's better? There's Ward, who's pretty good. Mayweather, though he doesn't like to fight inside like he used to. Who else?

I thought Matthysse beat him up when he tried to get in close.

But yeah he's definitely a tough cookie on the inside, he gets great leverage on his shots, even if he isnt naturally the biggest puncher.

      Golovkin
      Younger Hopkins
      Bradley
      Mayweather
      Ward
      Beterbiev
      Roman Gonzalez

Pederson kept coming vs khan working his way inside . He was on synthetic testosterone for that fight. Don't mean to take away from your thread bo but that's the truth.

And he was 6-1 down after 7 vs Danny because he ran and didn't throw

I don't know about rankings but when I think of good inside fighters I look at

        Mayweather
        Ward
        Maidana
        Hopkins
        Cotto
        Guerrero
        Rios
        Peterson

That's off the top of my head. So I'm sure I missed a few.

Hmm, im not sure about all these Jas:

GGG maybe, but i see him as more mid-distance/pocket fighter.
Younger Hopkins yes, currect Hopkins no.
Bradley if i remember rightly got outfought on the inside against LP, but his versatility allowed him to switch up and outbox him.
Mayweather and Ward are definitely better than LP. The two best in the sport imo.
Beterbiev might prove to be better, but atm he just hasnt fought the opponents though.
Gonzalez i see as a GGG type. Prefers the mid-range fighting in the pocket.

Peterson beat Bradley inside and made Bradley box.

No way you can claim Beterbiev is better. Dude's never had an inside fight to prove it. I'd say the same about Golovkin, no one has ever sat in the trenches to let him display inside fighting like Peterson has.

Totally agree about Peterson running and not throwing. If he takes it inside by the 5th or 6th instead of the 8th, he wins last night.

I'd watch Rios vs. Peterson, as long as Peterson doesnt try his 'boxing' routine.

Rios is a beast on the inside....Ward can beast you in there as well...I agree that Lamont is one of the best inside fighters in the sport....if he had started off like he finished I would give him the benefit of doubt...but he decided to audition for the NY City Marathon for the first half of the fight
