Comments Thread For: Thurman: Me Against Kell Brook is Best Fight of The Year

IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (34-0, 23KOs), who two weeks ago demolished Jo Jo Dan in four rounds, will defend his world title on May 30th against countryman Frank Gavin at the O2 in London.

If all goes well against Gavin, Brook is looking to return to the ring again at least two more times before the end of the year. Brook's promoter, Eddie Hearn, has already mentioned former champion Brandon Rios as the likely candidate to face Brook in his next fight.

WBA 'regular' welterweight champion Keith Thurman (25-0, 21KOs) is looking to return on a date in late June or at some point in July.

Two technically proficient, thinking fighters with power and in their primes. It would be a great fight.

Its hard to pick a winner. Neither of them have been in a lot of real tough fights. They both barely got their feet wet at the top level. The winner of Thurman brook and pacquiao mayweather, that is a good welterweight tournament, probably the 4 best welterweights in the world. Some could argue khan deserves to be there and he might, but he ducked brook big time

It's THE fight to make at 147. It will happen, but not this year.

Neither of them want to fight Thurman, just like fighters nobody wants to fight Andrade at 154 or Rigondeaux at 122 or Andre Ward at 168...They're all tough match ups stylistically and I don't think the other fighters are confident that they can beat them RIGHT NOW!

Nobody mentions Thurman besides Lara who is a weight class above but at Welterweight Currently, neither wants to get in with Thurman. Maidana turned him down Twice maybe 3 times by now but he wants to fight little Danny Garcia and nobody says anything about it, in fact they're all in for him fighting Danny Garcia. Shawn Porter wants Bradley, no mention of Thurman. So don't complain when Thurman is stuck fighting what most consider a "Weak" Opponent because he can't sit around and wait for what is suppose to be the best at Welterweight to Grow A Pair and fight him!

I'd like for this fight to happen soon. It's definitely an interesting matchup.

Yep, it's the best fighter that can be made.

I expect it will be difficult to get it made due to neither promoter wanting to send their guy over the pond, but hopefully it gets pushed through next year and we get the best fight possible.

Please make this fight happen. This is going to be one of those fights that "marinate" for too long. No shame in losing to either Brook or Thurman.

This would be a great fight but I doubt we'll see it anytime soon. The winner of this fight would earn their shot at Floyd or Manny.
