Comments Thread For: Quillin Not Overly Impressed With Lee's KO of Korobov

Peter Quillin, 31-0 (22) has told Ireland’s Andy Lee, 34-2 (24), that he intends to win strong this weekend. Quillin challenges Lee in a non-title contest at the Barclays Centre, New York live on BoxNation this Saturday and the Michigan-born, New York-based 31-year-old has vowed to break Irish hearts.

Because he failed to make weight on Friday, Quillin missed out on the opportunity to regain the WBO middleweight crown which Lee now owns.

Quillin vacated the WBO belt due to personal reasons; his last defence was a decision win over Lukas Konecny last April. He believes that Lee, 30, won’t be able to repeat the hard punching display that saw him win the belt by stopping Matt Korobov in December.

Quillin truly is a de****able piece of shit. How much of a lowlife do you have to be to retrospectively use a family member's death from cancer to further your own image?

Here are a series of quotes from Quillin and his management from when he vacated the belt:

“Al Haymon is one of the smartest men in boxing. I know that when a person builds up a fan base like I have, you have a certain responsibility to get out a message to your fans. But I also have to be a businessman. I was really excited about the Korobov fight and in my opinion, I can beat that man. But the guy that’s behind the scenes is going to advise what’s best for me,” said Quillin.

“That scenario is based on a fight-by-fight basis. I’m trying to make sure that I stay focused, stick to the game plan and make sure that my eye is on the prize at all times. This is a business. I have to conduct myself that way. That championship belt might be everything to some people and I was blessed to have it. But there are more other champions out there and there is a bigger picture. A lot of people might never understand that.”

A bunch of things were presented to me and I said I was on board with that. It was nothing more than a firm handshake and a good feeling. And let me tell you one thing, Al Haymon is the m*therf**king ****. People want to hate on him. But Floyd is the highest paid athlete in the world, mainly cause of Al. Why should I second guess that man? His track record speaks for itself.”

    GBP's letter to the WBO:

"Mr. Quillin has reviewed the middleweight landscape and is of the belief that there are other more compelling opponents for him to fight which will afford the boxing fans with excitement and which will afford him and his family more opportunities," Joseph wrote. "Please be assured that Mr. Quillin is by no means minimizing Mr. Korobov's talents or accomplishments. Mr. Quillin simply seeks to pursue bigger fights. Let me conclude by expressing Mr. Quillin and Golden Boy's appreciation for your organization's patience while Mr. Quillin worked through this decision and we look forward to our continued relationship with the WBO."

And now, because the massive backlash he was too ****** to see coming, this scumbag turns around and claims he vacated the belt because of his uncle's illness and death. Think about the kind of a person that would do something like that.

And by the way Quillin, you have no Irish fans you horrible ****.

He had like 4 different reasons, and they keep changing every time he has to defend it. First was that he was onto bigger things, like you posted. Then he wanted to spend more time with his wife and kid. Now it's because a family member died.

What's ****** is that the Haymon nuthuggers (why the **** does a manager have nuthuggers????) totally bought into it through every new excuse and now get offended when you say he ducked Korobov. "Oh, how dare you criticize a fighter who wanted to spend time with his family. How dare you criticize someone who lost someone close to them." Because that wasn't his reason the first, second, or third time he defended ducking Korobov!

He's everything wrong with boxing. He deserves no fans.

Well tbh quillin I'm not impressed by any of your recent kos. Of which there haven't been any. I'm not impressed with you vacating rather than fighting Koborov.

Man quillin I used to like but now I'm starting to dislike him more than danny boy.

Quillin, we weren't too impressed with your gift victory over Rosado either. You were getting boxed up and had Hymen's in pocket ref stop the fight to save you from a loss on the cards. Lee will spark you out.

Korobov would have soundly defeated Quillin.

Even some Pac fans can't stand Arum. The ball licking of Haymon on this site is something I'll never understand.
