yes i have to agree. he really hasn't beaten a top guy(who could walk) since clottey and even that fight i had clottey winning although it was razor close. very good fighter but it just goes to show that hype and popularity can get a fighter very far. his last 4 fights he gave floyd a good fight but even maidana tested floyd more, lost to trout, destroyed a journeyman rodriguez, and beat a guy who shouldn't have been in the ring as sergio says "I take it in stride. I am still having trouble walking. When my knee warms up, I start to hobble."

People act like the serg fight was a fluke because serg was shot, but a lot were proclaiming cotto ruined after manny destroyed, and then again when trout beat him. Cotto has been written off many times but has bounced back..

He has been a poor middleweight champion. He won the title from Martinez in early June of last year and will make his first title defense in early June of this year. A champion who only defends his title once a year is a poor champion. It's unfair to worthy challengers who deserve a chance to win the title. A good champion should defend his title 2 or 3 times a year against high ranked contenders. If Cotto defends his title against a fighter who is not a top 10 world ranked middleweight or make the weight limit below 160 that makes him even a worse champion.
