    147...

Seriously, what the hell is going on?

We're talking a division that has jumped back to the best in boxing with a long list of very good fighters, yet we have promoters who are apparently considering these fights:

    Khan vs Algieri
    Brook vs Gavin
    Thurman vs Berto

That is Al Haymon and Eddie Hearn's idea of watchable fights? 3 absolute stinkers that won't be competitive, won't advance any of the fighters and won't provide any interest.

Bradley, Porter, Maidana, Rios, Marquez and the three already mentioned are available and this is the best they can cook up?

    Piss off.

No one wants to risk anything because of Mayweather and Pacquiao. The sooner those two retire, the sooner the division stops this crap.

They all are following the May-Pac model of building up fighting no-hopers for years while the paying public gives them a pass, until they can eventually cash in when the timing is right. Boxing is a business.

It's just an undercard fight for the Linares-Mitchell fight.

That is Eddie's plan though, throw Brook on that card and try and fool people into buying it. I'm admittedly a big fan of Kell, but I wouldn't even watch him fight Gavin.

There simply isn't enough match ups between the top 10 at 147. It might be the best weight class in boxing talentwise, but the politics stop it from actually being the most enjoyable.

Why does any vendor continue to serve up a **** product? Because they're getting paid for it.

These promoters have too many options and are too comfortable entirely. They'll do better when they feel pressure to do better.

This is the annoying thing though, neither Mayweather or Pacquaio followed this model. Both fought at an extremely high level for the vast majority of their careers. Actually I cant think of any current fighter outside of maybe Canelo (who has now started fighting better fighters) who has made to that 'boxing superstar' status without being in multiple competitive/high level fights over many years.

Guys like Brook need to fighting at a high level consistently if they want to put themselves in postition to make big money

Thurman vs. Berto has the most potential because it seems like being friends won't get in the way. Both can punch, and Berto is vulnerable enough for Thurman to look good, but dangerous enough that Thurman can't slack. Khan vs. Algeri will most likely be uneventful, and Gavin doesn't have a chance in hell against Brook.
