y.monkey............point is you don't get talent and skill points off your genetics. Using genetics for an advantage is a huge plus however boxing skills that include technical abilities with correct form superceed genetics.
Point is he could be much better than he is instead of "boxing tall"!
Steward taught him to stand tall but the techniques needed to be great are missing. Throwing a 1/2 then holding doesn't equate to great!
Learning how to survive and win is admirable but why get exciting about mediocrity?

He's the best of mediocrity right now and I give him credit for that but his opponents have been minimal talents at best. Just because your fighting a man who's 25-0 and is a federations contender doesn't mean he fought a high caliber of opponents. The vast majority of these records are purposely built against horrible competition.

No blame to Wlad from me but no way is he a "great fighter", ridiculous!
Louis didn't have great opponents either but watch his form and his boxing abilities. He worked the body and the head within the same combinations. Ali moved laterially and opened his opponents up to his combination, Tyson brutalized his opponents with speed & power and agressiveness.

Wlad throws a 1/2 then holds! Today.....thats great!!

      Ray.

Yeah.... Well, too bad your opinion means absolutely nothing. You're nothing to boxing, just like 99.8% of the other people who post on this forum.... no matter how much of a "boxing historian" you think you are.

I bet you want a time machine where you could go back to the different eras and gobble up all these golden fighters sausages.

F'ck me lad, wlad may not be as 'great' as Louis and Ali. But cut the dude some slack he does what he can. He is a frail fighter when it comes to taking a punch. But he has dominated and not been hit In so many years.

Ray you said if he was 6' 3 he would be exposed etc.

Well he isn't 6' 3 so why would you expect him to fight any different?

Wlad fights tall, using his advantages in height and reach. Again I ask, what is your point?

He is a fragile fighter and doesn't need to take any chances.

You're that close minded that you think you know better than the great Emanuel Steward. Hah!

well,,,,,try watching other fights besides peter 1 and povetkin over and over again then becuz theyre the only fights where his clinching was ridiculous. you don't ko over 50 opponents if youre doing nothing but jabbing and clinching
