  • Comments Thread For: IBF: Lamont Peterson Will Be Stripped if Garcia Wins

This Saturday night from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, IBF junior welterweight titlist Lamont Peterson takes on Danny Garcia, who has the WBA and WBC junior welterweight belts in his possession. But this fight for whatever reason is being contested at a catch-weight of 143-pounds.

But even with that, Peterson must win this fight to keep his IBF strap.

"He loses the fight, the title will be vacated," Daryl Peoples, president of the IBF told BoxingScene.com on Tuesday afternoon.

About time. Since this fight was announced as a non title fight the public outcry has just gotten bigger and bigger until finally the IBF has to do something. It's a joke that Peterson won this belt in the first place when he admitted to being on PED's and failed the drug test after the fight with Khan. Peterson got stripped of the other belts he won from Khan except IBF. Then he got KO'd to Matthysee and still got to keep the IBF belt that he never should of had in the first place. Now another fight above weight against Danny. IBF has a lot of egg on their face with PEDerson.

Because the GREAT Cesar Rene Cuenca obviously is the best fighter on the planet at 140. 47 have tried 47 have failed and 2 of them were actually KO'd!

I'm curious to see IK Yang though.

Kind of late. He should have been stripped once he got busted for juicing, and should have lost it to Matthysse.
