Comments Thread For: Oosthuizen is Latest To Join The Haymon/PBC Ranks

The undefeated IBO light heavyweight champion Tommy Oosthuizen will become the first South African to join Premier Boxing Champions, the exciting new boxing promotion created by Al Haymon.

PBC is shaking up world boxing with an unorthodox model that takes the action away from pay TV, ensuring mainstream exposure on the United States’ major television networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC), their affiliated networks (ESPN, NBCSN and CBS Sports Network) and Spike and Bounce TV.

So he gets to be on PBC without surrendering his rights.... sounds like he's not with Haymon

Better for Tommy that Al Haymon runs his career rather than selfish old Berman, who has no interest in his career, other than to use him as a source of money.

He won't be weight-drained and sacrificed against Andre Ward now.

A lot of fighters sign with Haymon without the promoters or existing managers surrendering their rights, like Matthysse for example. When his Haymon contract expired he still remained with Golden Boy and his original manager.

Tommy hardly a world killer, so he'll probably struggle with this...or barely pull up ahead

The original manager would lose percentages though wouldn't they? If a manager is taking the max of 33.33% and Haymon comes in for 10-20% then their slice will be altered accordingly.

You can hate haymon all you want. But he has the largest stable of boxers. He is making boxing accessible to the casual fan who only k ows the big stars of boxing. This will also force top rank and gbp to put on really good shows. Haymon fighters are well paid thats why boxers are lined up waiting to sign up with him. This is only good for boxing.

well, Oosthuizen struggled with maderna, who is an iceberg, so i wouldn't be surprised if he struggles with bolonti. the point is that after what happened in his last fight he gets another chance outside lol
