  • Don't just give up on Al Haymon just yet...

If he's is trying to make a business model like the UFC, which looks very likely. Remind ourself that the UFC wasn't always as "profitable" as it is now. Dana White made losses for several years and also paid fighters more money than the could afford, and now after less than 20 years thy are doing considerably well. Now boxing is a bigger sport with a larger target audience, once it gets going (Uncle Al is counting on this) it will be very very profitable and all the investment will be repaid. But whether it will all go to plan, we'll have to see but I'm very sure AH and his team have done more than enough research to attempt such a big and unheard of venture.

If Al's trying to mimic UFC than he better start looking for a cute blonde to be his $ maker.

He better start making other fights he currently puts Broner vs stiff type fights who's going to pay for that

The guy is a fine business man. He makes fantastic money for his clients and he gets a fantastic return. Do you want to see names fight or you want to see the best versus the best? I could care less for Haymon's matchups.

Al was the visionary but im all about PBC.

How any true boxing fan wants this to fail is beyond me

I got to watch a fight live for the first time with my son. He was amazed and excited at Bieterbiev KOing Campillo. I don't think he has the bug but he got his first taste.

While I know Haymon's primary objective is lining his pockets, programming like this gives kids the chance to see fights live on TV they otherwise wouldn't. That's how most of us became diehard fans.

Really can't see the downside to this.

If he wants to make a boxing UFC, he better stop paying fighters 2 million for lopsided fights. One CBS PBC card has more money in purses than a UFC PPV with all of their top stars. There are a number of reasons UFC works and one of the major ones is that no one fighter is paid insane sums of money. In fact, most of them are vastly underpaid when compared to boxers. This alone makes the model unsustainable for boxing. How many boxers will accept low purses and incentive bonuses like 'fight of the night' in place of the millions they are getting now?

WHy does larger purses equate to failure? Higher athlete salary doesn't hurt any other sport. Haymon is paying the fighters out of his own pocket. If he continues to get investors and the networks pay him then the model is sustainable.

UFC has a reason to unify since at the time, MMA was not as big and all the other organizations are facing bankruptcy.

I don't think the same conditions apply to when Haymon initiated PBC.
Most boxing fans sees it as just another roadblock for potential match ups.

It might still turn out well in the end, but not without breaking some egg shells along the way.

As long as we get great fights and the best vs the best I don't care who's behind it, whether it's arum, oscar, al or anybody else.

Hoping a boxing related project fails makes you a horrible fan of the sport.
