If people mention a Mayweather vs Cotto rematch, then you can Mention GGG. Mayweather is 5'8 and GGG is 5'9. If GGG can make 154, the fight can happen. F**k Cotto, he had his chance.Comment

That's not true. U need to go back n check your figures. Broner sells out in Cincinnati and he always has some of the highest rated boxing shows on premium tv. Same can't be said for ward. Ward is by far the better talent but Broner brings in ratings and cash.Comment

If you go back into Floyd's career, he too had a problem selling tickets, even in his hometown. It really wasn't until he developed the "Money" persona did he take off. He also had some quality dance partners, Gatti, De La Hoya, Hatton. It was like a perfect storm. I don't think you can look at a guy like Broner, who was doing his damnest Floyd impression and say he will for sure sell better than Ward. People need to know that you have to have the skills to back up the brash attitude. Ward is damn good, just needed to be busier.Comment

Actually Genna is 5' 10 1/2", but your point is absolutely valid. Boxing is based on weight classes, and Floyd is a unified champ at 154. If Gennady can make 154, then Floyd has to consider him as a legit challenger.
However, imo, I don't think fighting a smaller Floyd does anything for Gennady's long term legacy. The money and exposure would be great, but I'd rather see him demolish Quillin and Cotto, head up to 168, have one or two warm ups, and then take on Ward.Comment

Floyd doesn't decide who's the next draw that's up to the public unless he loses to a young prospect like Oscar lost to himComment

Broner is damn good at that too.Comment

Andre Ward is stuck in a similar situation to where Mayweather was when Top Rank marketed him as the quiet "Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather Jr; wunderkind talent but never really given the opportunities to launch into a massive star.
Ward has the chits of being a gold medalist and having sold 7500 tickets to the fight against Chad Dawson, nearly three years ago, so he's got a chance; Roc Nation in his corner is even better.
Andre Ward simply needs to get active again. Lock in the June fight in Oakland (wouldn't be shocked if Ward/RNS could get 10k paid fans into Oracle Arena), fight again in the November/December in Oakland or New York, and then fight three times in 2016.
Put the fights on TV, keep Ward's face in the media, with Ward keeping on winning, and he's got a chance to make it.
Floyd's point was that Broner is the far easier sell (likely not as talented as Ward, but he's been given a lot of exposure and he's got a persona that draws a reaction from the boxing audience) if you had to put the money up right now.Comment
