Unification takes priority over mandatory, but hopkins bypassed Kov with a unification, and he was Kov's... who then fought Pascal. He was the WBO mando, but he wasn't mandated.

Wait, seriously? This one kind of falls on my head because I didn't really read any pressers or follow the lead up at all, but when I heard of the fight - I just - assumed, ya know. It doesn't make it a less exciting fight, but it does make me scratch my head from the ******ity of it.

I may be wrong but I believe that they have already paid Mohammedi to step aside once. So I guess if he pushed for the fight and didn't get it the IBF could strip Kovalev of the belt. And the Krusher has already indicated how important it is to him to become the undisputed champion.

Boxing is slowly becoming more of a business than a sport. I mean, there's always been a financial aspect to everything, but I'm starting to think that pretty soon weight classes won't even matter anymore.

Yeah thats quite the joke, peterson got busted for elevated testoterone, then got knocked into another dimension by matthysse and yet he still holds a belt because it was at a lame catchweight. And Haymons gonna pull the same bull**** trick again. I guess this is they're way of duping the average guy into thinking these guys are true champs.
As far as stevenson being ready to unify im sure it will cost a kings ransom to finally get that sucker into the ring with kovalev. They are basically selling the belt to kovalev, at what cost who knows?

Stevenson on Kovalev: "I'm Ready, No Problem To Unify"

It will speak volumes the look on ******man's face when he finally realizes the pile of dookie he just stepped in, as he enters the ring and sees the look on Kov's face. Kov was not a happy fighter when Pimp pulled that bungle out move last year. I get the idea he's going to take pleasure in making the ******man endure some serious pain on the way to the canvas. Kov should then have his own cape to wear for post-fight interview for all to see. True poetic justice.
