Comments Thread For: Adonis Stevenson Eyes Next Return in June or July

Quebec City - Canadian southpaw Adonis Stevenson retained his World Boxing Council light heavyweight world title with a lopsided decision over Australian Sakio Bika.

Haitian-born "Superman" Stevenson dropped Bika twice, but he couldn't finish him off.

Bika, who was born in Cameroon, and formerly held the WBC super middleweight world title, fell to 32-7 with three drawn and 21 knockouts -- but he's still never been stopped inside the distance. Stevenson took some time to get to grips with Bika's awkward style, but got to him with some hard punches in the fifth when Bika went down in what was ruled a slip.

So Kovalev must fight his IBF mandatory next in Nadjib Mohammedi , and again Stevenson fighting #14 WBC when he can fight Alvarez or Chilemba???

After 2 easy fights in a row Stevenson should fight a top ranked guy in the top 5

Kovalev wants to fight his IBF mandatory around the same time, so it doesn't matter if Stevenson takes another fight.

Unification takes precedence over Kovalev's mandatory, that ain't no excuse. Just man the fuc.k up and sign to fight him already. Dude be looking like a straight woman trying to avoid Kovalev for as long as he has, the dude ain't the boogeyman.

You guys just like to hate. Stevenson's resume is just as good if not better than Kovolavs. He has been equally impressive. Also, people were calling for the fight since the Dawson KO. That is not a duck, that fight was fairly recent. This fight is barley marinating now and will get made very soon. For some reason people decided they did not like Stevenson but I think some of that came from Dan Rafeal. It was uncalled for. People couldn't be hating on Stevenson from what he has done in the ring. He is very exciting talented. I can't wait for the fight and it's gonna be big now that there was some patients. I think Haymon will make this a big fight. Now if Stevenson doesn't fight Kovolav for another 5 years then I will agree that is a duck

I'll have to rewatch the fight as I was admittedly watching it at the gym with no audio but from what I saw, it wasn't that impressive of a win.

Granted Bika is tough but hes a gatekeeper coming up from 168, Stevenson went the full 12 with him had a few moments but it was a set up fight very similar to when thurman fought bundu, a punching bag sort of fight. Certainly not worthy of all the clowning stevenson was doing, hot **** he is not. They also panned to Lucian Bute in between rounds and when I saw this I must admit a little puke shot up into my mouth, this is just the kind of **** fight i expect stevenson and haymon to entertain.
