Pedro Guevara is ready for the first defense of his junior flyweight crown, as he faces Philippines Richard Claveras on April 11 at home in Mazatlan, Mexico.
The recently-crowned titlist was obligated to weigh in as part of the World Boxing Council (WBC) seven-day pre-fight weight check. Fighters competing in a WBC-sanctioned bout are not permitted to weigh more than 10% of the contracted weight 30 days out from a fight, and no more than 5% at the seven-day point.
Guevara held an open ceremony on Saturday at home in Mazatlan, clocking in at 110.5 lbs, well within the 113 lb. limit (rounded slightly down as 5% of the 108 lb. division limit) in which his weight needed to be ahead of next weekend’s title fight. [Click Here To Read More]
