Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua Won’t Be Distracted By Gavern Antics

Anthony Joshua is a prohibitive betting favourite going into tonight’s heavyweight fight with America’s Jason Gavern, but the rising British star is wary of the visitor’s style and has vowed not to be distracted by his in-ring antics.

Gavern, 26-19-4 (11), is known for wooping and hollering during his bouts—a trait the 37-year-old displayed when taking part in Prizefighter: The Heavyweights over here in November 2013. Joshua, though, has vowed to keep his head at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena even if Gavern starts fooling around. [Click Here To Read More]

Hopefully it's over in a few seconds. I'll even tolerate an early ref stoppage if it means we don't have to see any more of Gavern than is necessary. Can't stand that clown. :yuck:

Anthony Joshua vs Curtis "The King" Harper next at the O2 Arena, mega super duper fight for the UK. Don't miss it on Sky Box Office (PPV).

Lol, so true. It shows a measure of a guys skills when he is more known for his noises as opposed to his pedigree, I would have preferred to see Joshua in a tune up against Johnson, rather than take a tune up for Johnson. I wish they'd move this guy along a little quicker, he clearly does not belong in a ring with Deontay Wilder opponents, aside from Stiverne, who obviously would be a huge task for Joshua at this point. I am in no way implying Joshua should be facing him today, but certainly by the summer I'd like to see him in with someone like Arreola, Stiverne or a Szpilka type opponent.

Whilst I agree this guy knows jack, Whyte could build into a huge fight if he is brought along matched and marketed properly like Joshua has. I think the issue is Sky have all the money, and the grip on marketing through their channel, Whyte is not a stable mate, maybe a change in promoter to Hearn would bring him that sooner, if at all. He needs exposure, who outside of the hardcore have even heard of him ? I mean most of the guys who get wet over Joshua for his ko antics and olympic success aren't even aware he was a crack dealer. I'm not saying he's worse than Adonis Stevenson, but peddling **** like that I can't admire a person who profits from another persons misery.

Hopefully he keeps winning so Wladimir can nail his ass.
