I see it as an excuse

"I would have been successful if I signed the contract"

The guy lacked dedication as the article pointed out, and he did have pro fights and he lost some of them.

He acknowledged he got a gift vs Floyd and thinks he got robbed in the final. So instead of doing what Roy jones did, he let his anger and bitterness halt his boxing career. Also wanted to represent a different country because of it.

He was also cheating on his wife.

Hard work pays off eventually. We all have regrets but it's how you respond to those.

This is a cruel sport, both in the ring and out of it. I was reading that article yesterday and it struck me how close this man was to possibly launching himself forward, and yet in many ways it seems he's allowed a couple of moments in his 20's to define his life. I understand the temptation to look back and wonder, "what could have been?" However at some point, you have to allow yourself to move out of the past and towards something else. Few people can rest their hat on the accomplishments of their more youthful exploits - and I think it's a bit disingenuous to credit his fall from grace within his country's boxing program to getting that W over Floyd. It sounds like he was unwilling to "play ball" in the manner that was expected of him. In the story of this man's life, Mayweather is actually the minor detail, but it seems he's unduly focused on him because of where each man went after the Olympics.

Sad story, but it sounds like excuses to me. He didn't have the work ethic or the drive. This guy sneaks out of his room to **** around with women and drink. Just imagine if he would have gotten those big promotional signing bonuses.

Yea, it is a sad story but it is sad because it is a story of wasted talent. If the guy had the drive he would have likely been much more successful. Still even today he could probably do more, like pass on his boxing know how to other young Bulgarians, not that that would make him wealthy but it would at least give him solid purpose.

This guy is a ****ing joke. For those that didnt read it, He still thinks he beat mayweather, but hes crying that he got robbed in the final fight and he had a hissy fit and quit boxing over it. He only says he wished he lost to Mayweather because he thinks he would have continued boxing, he still feels as though he won.

Had Mayweather gotten the decision, would it have been any different than him loosing at the finals to the Thai guy? The same scenario would have played out, he would have thought he was robbed, cried about it, quit boxing and go on a 19 year drinking and ********** binge. I dont see what the difference would be.
