  • Why do you "Hate" certain fighters?

Hate is a strong word and certain boxers get an awful lot of it. Here is a chance for you haters to pipe up, what is it about guys like Mayweather, Broner, Garcia, Fury do you dislike so much? The fact they win, or the fact they talk too much. What exactly turns you off from a fighter?

Ward and his hugging. Wlad bothers me too but I don't "hate" them.

Ward seems like a good guy outside of the ring.

Race, personality, fans, fighting style,media.. Etc that's what I think can influence other people opinion about a fighter, me I dont "hate" any fighter but I don't like when the truth is slighted for one fighter whilst another gets away with the same thing.... I would call out fighters like those every minute.

Sometimes people just have personalities that rub you the wrong way. This is the internet too so any sentiment someone has about a fighter is going to get exaggerated.

Well said. For myself, I just dislike fake personas and arrogance. The guys op mentioned all exude that. Guys like James toney were ****y, but it was genuine and it didn't come across like he was acting. With this new generation of hip hop boxers, it's all an act. Kovalev talks **** and is ****y too but it's his personality and he does it with charisma, whereas when you hear Floyd say "I'm a gorilla, I'm a dog," you cringe. It's so forced and lame. If I wanted phony characters I'd watch wrestling or listen to drake and Rick Ross.

To be honest, I think the fans of certain fighter's turn people off more than the fighters themselves.

Basically people on boxingscene act all the same way, they hate fighters who pose a threat to their idol.

Pac fans hate Floyd cause Floyd is the biggest threat to Pac.
Floyd fans hate Pac cause Pac is the biggest threat to Floyd.
GGG fans hate Ward cause Ward is the biggest threat to GGG.
Cotto fans hated Margarito, Margaritos fans hated Cotto.

So as soon as a fighter is successful, the haters are coming because the successful fighter is a threat to their hero, so they will find some elementary school ways to discredit the fighter they hate, say he is a fraud, etc...

This is spot on! I can't stand certain fan bases and the way that they talk shit about certain fighters yet hold them to a higher standard than their favorite fighters! Some people only like certain promoters, certain networks, certain nationalities, and certain races of fighters which is pathetic. Hypocrites are rampant and true boxing fans are few and far between anymore.

Calling someone a Fraud with legit accolades when your own "8" division champ has fraudulent accolades comes to mind. Calling someone a cherry picker who fights legit ranked fighters and champs yet don't call out your own fighter for fighting guys coming off shitty performances, losses, making weight class debuts, catch weights, and easy to spot cherry picks ala a Rios or an Algieri. Hating on Al Haymon for making shit matches yet giving Bob Arum or Oscar De La Hoya a pass when they make shit fights. What happened to boxing fans and people who call a spade a spade.

I don't hate them. The things they do annoy me. Khan's constant bragging and praising himself. Talking about the ease with which he would beat fighters like Pacquiao and Mayweather. Turning down big fights with Bradley and Brook and taking a big pay cut to fight light punching career 140 pounder Algieri instead, etc. etc. Broner also brags too much and can be very insulting to other fighters. He calls out tough guys he has no intention of fighting and ends up fighting very average guys. Lately Cotto and Garcia are doing a poor job of defending their titles. Cotto won his title a year ago with a beautiful display of skill and power but a year is way too long to wait to defend your title. It's also been a long time since Garcia has put his title on the line against someone good. I don't hate these fighters but their actions annoy me and I wouldn't mind seeing them take an ass kicking in the ring. That won't happen to Khan if he keeps being so careful about who he fights. I liked the old Khan who took risks and fought better fighters much better than today's cherry picking Khan.
