In the separation agreement between Golden Boy Promotions and adviser/manager Al Haymon that was consummated at the beginning of the year, Amir Khan was among a select few fighters that was under contract with Haymon that would remain with Golden Boy.
But you wonder just how tenable that situation is. Earlier this year, after his January 17th bout against Jesus Ruiz, Leo Santa Cruz, who also fell under this arrangement, soon had his promotional contract with Golden Boy bought out by Haymon. There was a clause in the separation agreement which allowed Haymon to activate a complete contract buyout.
