Toney camp files protest!
Promoter Dan Goossen has filed a written protest to the WBC on behalf of heavyweight James Toney seeking an immediate rematch with WBC heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman. The protest argues that referee Eddie Cotton allowed "The Rock" to land 200+ illegal blows, mostly to Toney's left kidney area, causing inflammation and traumatization to Toney's left kidney. Kidney punches in boxing are illegal. Rahman and Toney boxed to a twelve round draw allowing Rahman to retain the title.

as much as i wanna see a rematch that is a hoe move on the part of Toney....ol boy wasnt sayin **** during the fight about it and you already know if Toney woulda won then he still wouldnt be sayin ****......thats alright...i say do the rematch so Rahman can KO him this time....

Toney didn't say anything while the fight was going on.

If Toney doesn't want to fight the Rock again, that only leaves the IBF and WBO titles he can go for.

I really think his lawyers are just doing something to counteract what Dennis Rappaport is doing, which is threatening to sue if his guy Oleg does not get the fight. It's whiney but actually a smart move.

If he does not get a rematch for all intents and purposes he needs to move on to Brewster or someone else. And only Rahman's name and HBO will get him $2 million. Fighting for a WBO belt on showtime is only about a $1 million payday. Better to spend a few dollars on lawyers now to try and position himself.

Rock couldn't even KO an out of shape Toney that had no balance. Toney did win the fight, he landed the more effective punches. Still the fight was really close & I don't have a problem with a draw. Still Toney should blame himself for this fight, he just didn't train enough for this fight.

You knew there had to be some excuse at some point.He didn't complain about the punches during the fight and I am not convinced he even wants a rematch.

That weight was an embarrassment and he should just shut up imo.
