Former champion Jhonny Gonzalez (57-9, 48KOs) is already picking up the pieces after Saturday's fourth round knockout loss to Gary Russell Jr. at The Palms Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Russell lined in three knockdowns before the fight was stopped and the WBC featherweight championship changed hands.
Gonzalez says he was caught by a punch that he never fully recovered from. He was first hurt and went down in the third round when he walked right into a rapid hook. Before this fight, Gonzalez had discussed the idea of going up to super featherweight. He may very well move up in his next fight.
