If there is any debate that is warranted, not that there is, it should be about who the rightful WBA champ not who is the lineal titlist.

Any argument about Cotto's lineal title is a waste of time.
I agree but for the title to have any merit it has to be defended against the next best guy. Not the heilands of the world.

Hence the term "paper title". He is lineal champion paper because he refuses to defend against top middleweights after beating a clearly disabled opponent.

What he is on paper is not debatable, he's the lineal champion until he's stripped, but whether it has any meaning in the real world is a pretty clear NO.

His 1st defense will be an optional one. This has become a standard practice with all champions and is allowed by the sanctioning bodies. Taking an optional after winning the title in the ring in no way cheapens or diminishes that title.

I, nor most fans, would have minded a Cotto/Canelo fight in June. Absent that, IMO cotto should defend against GGG. Should he not, it doesn't in anyway diminish his being lineal champ.

Sorry guys, GGG can't get the lineal title the way he got the WBA title.

if you want to get technical then cotto's lineage only stretches back to 2001. there is no "real" lineal middleweight champion because it has been vacated so many times throughout history and then arbitrarily redistributed.

yeah if Tony had his gloves loaded cotto most likely would have went blind like Collins jr. did, but cotto is a taino god and suffered no permanent injuries . That plaster is just an excuse for Ricans to use and call Mexicans cheaters, that's why he never went to prison like resto, and it was also never proven that there was plaster in his wraps even though there was an investigation by the state of California, but we should take your word for it.

Now Tito, he knowingly stacked his wraps every fight he was allowed to. true cheater.
See, you think I care about someone's race... I was never a fan of Tito, he's overrated and his power was suspect. I've also said it plenty of times before now, on this forum. So just give it up, you sound ****** really like I said before, you're like the HS Rob Lowe, it's 2015 and you're still talking about the Margarito victory. It's like PR's claiming how proud we are of beating some white guys ass because the PR had loaded gloves. It's assault and he deserved to go to jail, race has nothing to do with it. Again, your brain THINKS it, doesn't make it reality. Case in point, Tito... It's sad you're still trying to hurt my feelings instead of having a rational conversation.

Lol I'm not losing any sleep over it, I don't give much credence to titles.

Cotto should fight GGG or vacate, but he has a voluntary first. He's fighting a MW for that voluntary, Cotto isn't doing anything wrong. What that has to do with either one being my favorite fighter, I'm not sure. GGG would destroy Cotto in the ring as well, that doesn't hurt my feelings or bothers me in any way like you think it does.

What race? We are talking NATIONALITIES. How can I have a conversation with a blind nut hugger like you? I never said you were a Tito fan I was giving you an example. You talk about reality but always spin **** like this, and how I said Collins jr. died in the ring. How can I have a meaningful and straight conversation with you when you do that? Fck outta here bias f4ggot.

How many times has GGG defended his title? How many times has Cotto defended his?

Now tell me who the real champion is.
