Main Events's future is pretty much staked on HBO and Duva and Haymon have personal issues so I couldn't blame them if they (HBO & ME) refused to have Kovalev fight on Haymon's PBC series.

This is likely Michel's plan anyway hence the immediate request for the purse bid and no attempts made to negotiate the fight with Main Events.

GYM and Haymon never wanted Kovalev as Stevenson's mandatory and despite paying half-hearted lip-service to it, Stevenson never wanted the Kovalev fight either.

Duva played right into Haymon's hand. if it does come to HBO and Haymon, hopefully she sides with Haymon Despite her feelings against him. Kovalev is her only known star and Haymon has three names at LHW for him to fight.

Here's the thing, even if she ditched HBO and signed up to PBC there's still no guarantee Stevenson would fight Kovalev, the likes of Thurman still can't get the PBC fights he wants.

We know Beterbiev would fight Kovalev but Beterbiev is high risk low reward right now. I don't know who the other name is you're thinking of.

For all the talk of Stevenson, he's not a draw (5,000 tickets, 294k Sho), a Pascal rematch is probably more lucrative for Kovalev.

It was Duva's idea to have it go to purse bid and Kovalev is currently free from any Network obligation. What? You think HBO won't want Kovalev back if they have a one off with PBC?

It was Michel's idea. He even says it in this article, he wrote to the WBC and requested a speedy purse bid. He had no intention of negotiating the fight with Main Events.

My understanding is Kovalev is still under contract with HBO and that they're negotiating an extension.

Imo the plan is to put Duva in a position where she has to take Kovalev to fight on PBC, or walk away from the fight knowing well there's a good chance her relationship with HBO will likely preclude the bout.

Stevenson has just avoided big fights wit Hopkins and Jean Pascal instead under Haymon's direction opting to fight Fonfara, Sukhotsky and Bika but now we're supposed to buy he wants to fight Kovalev? It wouldn't even be a discussion on the Haymon/GYM side if Main Events hadn't pushed to get Kovalev into the mando spot in first place.

I was speaking in terms of the purse bid if Haymon were to win and HBO tells Duva to back off. Stevenson vs Kovalev sells out the Pepsi Center...possibly moved to Olympic Stadium
