Comments Thread For: Nacho: Marquez-Mosley Would Have Been Great Fight

BoxingScene.com recently caught up with Hall of Fame trainer Nacho Beristain to get an update on the status of four-division champion Juan Manuel Marquez who has been out of action since his May 2014 unanimous decision victory over Mike Alvarado.

Marquez has had troubles with his injured knee which has prevented him from returning to the ring.

Should Marquez retire, It would be a sad yet celebratory day. He had quite the illustrious career.

As far as Marquez/Mosley, I think I'm inclined to pick Mosley at any point in their careers. I feel Mosley would have eventually overpowered him. It probably would have been a great fight while it lasted though.

Excellent match up. It's hard to picture this match as I feel mosley is naturally a stronger/larger man. I could see Marquez setting up traps though

Nope. Not unless the fight happened in like 2005. Mosely hasn't been entertaining in about 7-8 years.

Eh I'm actually not sure about this match being as great as you might think. I love them both but together in the same ring it might not translate well.

Both were at there best when guys brought the fight to them and they would make them pay. So it could turn out to be a staredown for 12 rounds but on the flipside the same thing was thought about Morales and Barrera yet 3 fights later they were still swinging for the fences haha I just think Mosleys size, speed and power would of been the difference. At 135 this could be an amazing fight but Marquez besides fighting Manny really has no business fighting at welterweight.
