Well Bob Arum is certainly no bum, but he wasnt eager to be innovative and wasnt motivated to change the boxing business. Year after year boxing got a little bit less popular, ratings dropped, more and more politics got involved and always the same structure:
A limited amount of airdates on HBO and Showtime. Prospects got to fight at ESPN and SHOWBOX (?), more and more PPVs for weaker matchups.
He tried to establish a new outlet with china, but that wasnt enough to significantly raise the popularity.

While I still have doubts about Haymon, i still respect him for trying something new, to bring more awareness to boxing and to have many more platforms to showcase boxers.
It's still early and we have to wait if his fighters will be properly match and if his business plan will be successful, but now weve got besides HBO and Showtime, airdates on NBC, NBCsports, CBS, ESPN, SPIKETV and BounceTV.

With more outlets, boxers have the opportunity to fight more often, with being more present on television boxers will gain more popularity.

Well nobody accuses Floyd fans of **** riding arum when they say Arum says something about 5 million dollar penalty or that Pac is afraid of needles to support their argument.

I'll be the first to admit that I am no fan of Arum. I see him as Don King's white twin brother. But.... him bringing more boxing to non-premium cable TV is greatly appreciated.

Being truthful, Arum is going to have to put on some serious fights to compete with PBC. Keeping it real, TR does not have the talent Haymon has. So if and when TR is airing at the same time as PBC, I'll be watching PBC live and TR from DVR.
Arum can be salty and take shots at Haymon all he wants regarding his time buys, but I bet when its all said and done, Haymons time buys will turn into Haymon getting some ridiculously large license fees from the Major Networks. And those license fees will be substantially more than Haymon and his backers have spent or will spend on time buys and purses.

          Isn't the bold a whopping contradiction ?

Arum is doing what he has always done, whatever is best for him.
