Some fighters feel the need to change trainers as a way to renew their focus in training. Cotto comes to mind. Freddy Roach or Robert Garcia would be an interesting combination with Kovalev, but stay away from Virgil.

It does make sense having the Mohammedi fight in Russia.

Kovalev apparently lives in LA but you'd have to think Roach's schedule is fairly full.

Hard to imagine HBO being all that keen.

Probably just pay for broadcasting rights and do what they did in Monaco. They have enough time to situate and probably won't cost them as much money.

IMO, waste of money stateside and would probably end up not filling up a venue that well.
          Russia sounds fine with me

Kovalev was never too content with Jackson and was looking for another coach for quite some time. He said Jackson doesnt give him everything he wants, something along those lines.

It sounds like Kov feels he's not improving or needs a change of pace.

John David Jackson does work with a ton of guy so if he isn't getting enough face time for his liking I could see that issue, seemed like a fairly good match though.

                      John Jackson screwed this up

Jackson got to big and thought he was a great trainer and started giving Kovalev less attention. Kovalev was the Golden Goose who was being treated like a tin cup by Jackson. Smart move by Kovalev as Kovalev was not getting any better and was being hit hard by his opponents. John Jackson became too full of himself and will be booted out. Good move. Jackson screwed this up big time.
