Comments Thread For: Manny Pacquiao's Form Rising During Tough Sparring

CELEBRATED Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach was very happy with what he saw from eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao after he sparred nine rounds with three different sparring partners and followed up with eight rounds on the punch-mitts on Saturday.

Top Rank publicist Fred Sternburg relayed the information to the BoxingScene.com/Standard after speaking with Roach. Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao on the speedball.

Roach’s assistant trainer Marvin Somodio said that Pacquiao sparred two rounds with 21-year-old Chicago native Kenneth Simms Jr., who has a record of 5-0 with 2 knockouts, followed by four rounds with a welterweight by the name of “Kendre,” who is also undefeated with a record of 12-0 with 5 knockouts, and three rounds with a fighter from San Diego, whose name the trainer wasn’t sure of.

I think both guys are gonna train their butts off now, and possibly over train, then taper off a few weeks before the fight, then really chill the week prior to the fight.

Not worried about either fighter over training. They're professionals, and know their bodies enough.

Theyve been preparing for this match for 5 years. Floyds rigjt. The split wouldnt have reached 200 million five years ago. Floyds request of 100 million then was ridiculous. Now its a 120 mil guarantee.

Overtraining is a myth. At least for these guys who just train eat and sleep.

              lol

Like the honesty coming from American trainer Rick Staheli, but I can see where that type of honesty must have soured his relationship with Freddy Roach initially.

There's clearly alot riding on winning this fight for both fighters, and there taking this fight more serious than any other in there careers probably.

Floyd's more likely to overtrain. He's been known to be a boxing gym rat and he's always in top form, but with this fight he's actually training at another level as many as professed. Pacquiao can be seen having fun post training and still attends other non boxing duties.

Lots of fallacies, stereotypes and assumptions in many levels in that statement. WORKING HARD can also be as much fun while showing or not showing "fun" is also a bad measuring stick towards judgement...after all, why judge? haha

                    dont really understand
roach said in an interview today on filipino tv that he wasnt impressed with Pacquiao in sparring and actually got frustrated at him.
I guess tommorow boxingscene will have a new article talking about how roach isnt impresed
