Is Brook being primed to be a Mayweather opponent?

Think about it...he fits the mould of a Floyd opponent and has all the little selling points that Floyd likes.

He's undefeated - "young strong lion"
He's the only other belt holder in the division outside of Mayweather/Pacquiao.
He would bring his huge sheffield following to Vegas.
He's making a good name for himself in the UK and people will tune in on TV for sure.

but most of all, Showtime have started broadcasting his fights...part of an agenda, trying to get his name out there a little bit more?

I think Mayweather beats him without much problem anyway, i think Brook is too orthodox and predictable for Floyd and they probably know it too. but that's irrelevant to my point which is... you know Floyd and his team know how to grease a squeaky wheel. They could use all those little selling points, undefeated, champ, beat Porter in USA, UK Fanbase etc..they could hype all that up and make it a very sellable fight like they do best.

Showtime just preparing for life after Floyd, he wont be around longer than another year, or Pacquiao.

I'd support it if Kell was one of Floyd's latter opponents.

But Kell lacks one key characteristic to be a Mayweather opponent.

He isn't coming off a hyped victory. If he can get one, I'm sure they'd love to fight him.

If anything, it seems they're saving Amir up to be a Floyd opponent. Fight AB next! Last person to beat AB immediately got a fight with Floyd

If Khan does fight AB then i will agree with that.

Also, If Brook can get back in the ring in June like they expect, and beat a decent name, he could have that good victory to lead into a September fight with Floyd.

I would hope if they're building anyone for a Floyd fight it would be Keith Thurman.

In ideal world he'd fight Amir in June, knock his azz out, and solidify his place as Britain's poster boy.

No way Floyd would turn him down if he pulled that off.

Amir knows Kell would lay his azz out, so he avoiding it

if he could own Marcos next, he has the best case for being Floyd's September opponent

I think they're more likely to try and build Thurman as the next big thing after Floyd retires. They need a big cash cow, he can be a big name with the exposure and things like Haymons new TV show. If they are then they are more likely to keep him away from Mayweather. If he did lose to Floyd, it would always be hanging over his name and take the shine off him when trying to build a star.

It already happened with Canelo really. People now forget the hype before that fight because it was so one sided. At the time it happened, Canelo was the next star, it was the fight everyone wanted more than the Pacquiao fight at the time. Huge event, massive PPV numbers and even the weigh in was crazy. Then he lost and now i think it's hard to market him as the next big poster boy of boxing. It just took the shine off him a little bit and even if he does become the next big star, he'd always have the "yeah but he couldn't beat Floyd" thing.

I think they might not risk taking that shine off Thurman, if they are trying to build a star that is. Maybe they're not.
