Porter is better than Maidana. He doesn't hit as hard but he's physically stronger, a better boxer with faster feet and hands, also takes a better punch.
They aren't even that similar, Maidana can throw straighter punches if he chooses to where as Porter never throws any straight punches. Maidana also possesses a better jab and can use his free hand in the clinches better. Those are qualities Porter doesn't have.

Completely disagree there, dude. Porter is so overrated IMO, which is what has caused Brook to be overrated. To be fair, I do consider Brook world class or close to it but Porter just isn't an elite fighter IMO. Maidana is vastly superior to Porter in all dimensions and has the resume to prove it.

I agree, which is why even an old Marquez was eyeing a Porter fight, he saw how beatable he was. Porter is a psychically strong fighter with a bull rushing style, but fights with little substance and intelligence.

I agree they're not that similar but the way Porter fought against Brook is the way Maidana would fight.

I disagree about Maidana having a better jab, Porter's is definitely better for me. I think Porter is an underrated boxer but he doesn't show it enough, he fought like an absolute caveman against Brook but I guess he didn't really have a choice cos he didn't beat Brook boxing him.

lol most people disagree, I rate Porter higher than most. He's better than he showed against Brook, honestly I see him giving anyone in the top 10 a good fight, including the big two.

I think Brook's performance against Porter is overrated, but Brook himself is rated just fine from what I've seen, barring a few lunatics getting carried away and labeling him the best at 147.

Marcos success vs Kell would come primarily from swarming not boxing.

Marcos can do what Carson Jonez did the first time but better

                Also Maidana would batter Porter

I never rated Porter, even to the build up to the Brook fight

Porter had gone life and death with Julio Diaz, which many say he lost.

His tko record was not impressive and he hadnt scored a TKO in years until he fought a washed up Paulie.

There was nothing Porter could trouble Brook with, no power, no jab, small, no reach, yet Porter still made it a close fight

I always cringe when Brook says "Porter was the second coming of mike tyson" lmao

I still am not 100% sold on Brook. If he beats someone like Maidana, then we will know what level he truly is at

I'm afraid that's what he would do... Clinch Maidana all night (like Floyd did in the 2nd fight).

Robert Garcia's comments on the Grantland podcast strongly suggested that Maidana was done. I think there's a good chance that when he comes back it's at 154.
